The story behind the painting

Daughter of a Goddess is a contemporary portrait painting inspired by the symbolism of Friday the 13th - a date once connected to lunar cycles, feminine energy, and goddess mythology.

Historically, the number 13 aligned with the rhythm of the moon and Friday takes its name from the Norse goddesses Frigg and Freyja, figures associated with love, beauty, sovereignty and power.

What is now considered unlucky was once sacred.

This artwork explores female empowerment, legacy and identity, the idea that every woman carries strength within her. Not from someone above, but from the generations who came before. She is both the daughter and the goddess.

With expressive brushstrokes, layered colour and subtle gold detailing, the piece balances softness and strength, sensuality and sovereignty. The flowing movement through the hair and background reflects cycles, growth and becoming - a reminder that power can be quiet, intuitive and embodied.
